An earthquake in the Salton Sea unleashes a horde of prehistoric mollusk monsters. Discovering the creatures, a Naval officer (Tim Holt) and several scientists (Hans Conried, Max Showalter) attempt to stop the monsters, but they escape into the canal system of the California's Imperial Valley and terrorize the populace, including Audrey Dalton and Barbara Darrow.
I colorized this using AI software that doesn't always
get the colors right, but I think it looks fairly natural. Hopefully a
more professional job will be done someday.

Excellent Film
While the idea of a Giant Slug (?) makes for a weird monster; the Special Effects are very well done. In fact, the entire movie, Acting & all is top
...
notch. Near the movie's end, I could almost see a connection between the creepy Librarian & the Swichhboard Girl always talking to Mom. I hope you enjoy the Movie as much as I did !

Giant mollusks as monsters?

...
like perfect MST3K fodder, but the truth is that The Monster That Challenged the World is a fairly nifty '50s treat, with an intelligent script and decent effects (more so given its low budget).
